Echeveria Black Tan
This hybrid showed up on the succulent scene early in 2021. We have seen these sold under the moniker 'Black Rose.' We had Black Rose in stock during our first year in business, but then there was a period of about two years where we didn't see the cultivar again at any of our farms.
All of these hybrid names are given by the cultivating farms and these are direct translations from Korean so nothing is perfect when it comes to identifying hybrids, but we truly try our best. The translation we've been seeing for these is Black Tan and these do look a little like the original Black Rose, but the leaves are a little bit shorter on these and the overall shape is a little more rounded, whereas the original Black Rose had a shape truer to that of an Echeveria Black Queen hybrid with elongated leaves and sharp pointy tips.
Some Black Tans ship a little on the dry side, it is totally up to the cultivating farm as to how they best see fit to ship their plants. During warmer months, rot in the box can be a real risk and some farms chose to ship their plants on the dry side to prevent excess moisture.
Black Tans measure in at about 2" across, some with very long stems (almost resembling a long stem rose, which is another characteristic that is very unique and different to the original Black Rose).
Another unique trait of this cultivar is from time to time we'll see bright lime green streaks of variegation.
We hand select each Black Rose we sell. We always look for symmetry, color and maturity. Most ship with extremely sparse roots from the farms.
All photos are property of Cedar Creek Farmhouse and feature actual plants we have sold. Coloration of this cultivar may vary depending on time of year and the plants shown in our photos may be either cold stressed or UV stressed. If you wish to use our photos please send us a permission request.
How to Request an Echeveria Black Tan
After submitting your request(s) please make sure that you have received an email confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation email we did not receive your request.
When the plant arrives we will send you a link with a little video showing the actual specimen we have reserved for you. If you approve of the Black Tan we have sourced, then you'll finalize your order and you'll pay at that time.
There is no obligation to purchase, this is not a presale, this is simply a request for us to get this plant in for you.
If you have any questions around the Request process please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get back with you right away.
The succulents we sell are very rare and availability on most of our plants is limited. This Request site updates daily with new inventory as our partner farms make more plants available.
If the plant you would like to request is not available-- don't worry! We'll definitely get it back in again, but we cannot take formal requests until our farms restock.
Text Wait List
Another thing to keep in mind with our requests is our pricing may be a little more than other sites because a lot of our farms have minimum order amounts and many times we will have to put in a minimum order at the farm to secure your request.
How Long Does the Request Process Take?
Once your plant arrives you will get an email with a link to view your plant and from there you can checkout if you are happy with what we have sourced. If we are unable to obtain a quality specimen we will email you by Day 30 and let you know if we need to cancel the request.
- USPS Priority Mail $10 (Flat rate, per box. Transit times are not guaranteed)
- UPS $14 (Flat rate, per box. Transit times will be 2-3 days.)
If you would like to use a Cedar Creek Farmhouse gift card you may use that when you complete your order (after approving your plant).
We also reserve the right to cancel requests from folks who abuse our Request platform (i.e. requesting numerous times, but never purchasing the specimens we source). We want you to find the perfect plant, but please remember we are a small business and we are doing our very best to match folks with their wish list plants. If the plant we source doesn't strike your fancy then you are under no obligation to make a purchase, but please be mindful that we do have to purchase these plants from our partner farms when you make your request. Just be respectful and only request what you intend to purchase.
If you are a new customer requesting a large number of plants we may email you to verify your requests before procuring the order.
If you have an open request and found your plant somewhere else-- absolutely no worries! We are all collectors and we share the passion for these plants with you-- we get it! If you could give us a heads up we'd greatly appreciate it. Just send a quick email to: email@example.com with the email subject line containing the words ‘Cancellation’ and the Request # we sent to you in your confirmation email. You do not owe us an explanation :)
Our apologies! At the moment Echeveria Black Tan is temporarily unavailable for request. This simply means that our cultivating farms are low on stock today for this particular cultivar. Don't worry! Inventory levels change with our farms almost daily. We'd be happy to text you when we have more Echeveria Black Tan available for request. Simply text TAN to 1-833-772-3327 and we'll let you know the moment our farms restock.
