Echeveria Prima Donna

One of the most sought after echeverias is the Prima Donna. Sometimes this is spelled Primadonna. It's Italian for the 'first lady' and usually refers to the lead in an opera or the prima ballerina is the lead ballerina at the ballet. Prima refers to star of the show and we feel that name is fitting for such an exquisite echeveria.

Prima Donna, as their name might imply, aren't really divas and aren't all that hard to care for. Their coloration, however, varies from plant to plant. The coloration on the plant pictured here is usually rich plum, a lot of Prima Donna will have ivory and streaks of green as well.

Prima Donna can get quite large. We have seen this species reach sizes of just under 6" across. They can form a very thick wooden stem with age and will sometimes branch off into doubles and triples.

Most of the Prima Donnas we source will be smaller, younger specimens. If you request this plant you can expect it to arrive measuring in at about 3" across. Bare root availability depends on the cultivating farm.
